With one of the most exciting weeks of the year for the bridal industry coming to a close, we sat down with Madeline Gardner to discuss some of her favorite moments from International New York Bridal Week, as well as some of her thoughts on the trends for Spring 2014-
“Starting out the week with a buzz from our very well received Spring 2014 Collections at the Pier 94 shows was a great way to kick things off! The rave reviews we received from our retailers were amazing! With this very warm reception to our collections, I want to highlight some of the trends that stand out for Spring 2014:
-Allover beading on both fit and flare gowns, and ball gowns. So modern!
-Sheer illusion back detail that gives a discreet, yet sexy look to the gowns. It’s beautiful to have this gorgeous back detail facing your guests during the ceremony.
-Necklines. There are so many new choices on necklines, from V-shaped to off-the-shoulder, bateau necklines with low backs, strapless, scooped and scalloped. Be daring and try something new!
-Laces and embroidery that either just accent, or take over the gown with sparkling detail were huge. They could be intricately done and subtle, or all-over to make you shine on your special day. There was definitely something for every bride!
-Color was also a big trend. From traditional white, ivory, and cream, to light gold and blush pink- color was a trend that we have seen for several seasons, but has really come to life for Spring 2014.
For us, one of the proudest moments and highlights from New York Bridal Week came from first ever runway Press show on Monday morning. Champagne was flowing, fresh flowers filled the room, great music was playing, and our hair, make-up and styling crew was hard at work; there was lots of preparation! Our showroom transformed into an intimate space of white and pink. Beautiful models in our gowns, photographers, videographers, and the best editors in our bridal business all came together to join us. You could just feel the excitement in the air! Even our famous friend Randy Fenoli attended the show, and was as gracious as ever!
We ended our day at The Knot Gala hosted in The New York Public Library; one of my favorite places in New York City! This incredibly historic building came to life with wedding gowns, flowers, candles, fabulous fare and the chicest of guests. We were invited to walk the red carpet with our model Nataly, who wore one of my personal favorites from our Spring 2014 Collection, style 2601. This stunning gown features an important trend with a wide scooped neckline and the new detail of the low sheer illusion back, gorgeous beading, embroidery and lace. We partied all night with lots of friends to celebrate our collections and the successful launch of a new season! Video from the red carpet can be viewed on www.theknot.com and you could also check out some of our pictures on our Facebook page and our Instagram @morileeofficial.
We can’t wait for you to be able to view the collections, out in stores later this year!
Now…onto sketching for the next season!!”
